Going for a full strategic and visual rebrand, we created a bold identity, fit to interact with their audience in today’s modern, digital-first landscape.
In an industry that seems meekly focused on solving issues in a passive way, we found a cure.
Just like the seat belt changed daily commute, we positioned Phageguard as a revolution in the future of food.
Before we begin: what the actual phage?
Meet the natural nemesis of bacteria and Mother Nature’s own antibiotic: the phage. Mortal enemy of harmful bacteria and seasoned pro at eliminating scary sounding pathogens like Salmonella and Listeria – while leaving good bacteria unharmed. Making phages essential shields of food safety.
Hexing shields and P’s
When observed under a microscope, every phage is unique in shape and size – allowing them to combat a different bacteria with surgical precision. Yet, the head of each phage looks like a shield-shaped hexagon. Together with the habit of protecting nature, humanity, and the next generations of food security, we used this shield as inspiration for the visual identity.
An embodiment of simplicity, the Phageguard logo has a clean, typographic wordmark. The first thing that stands out: its distinctive and hexagonal P, our homage to the shape of a phage. The rest of the logo is rounded and balanced for two key reasons: to balance the angled P, while giving a nod to Phageguard’s human-centric approach.
As simple as Nature = Green? We wish. We were fascinated by the colors of phages under microscopes: shades of greens and pinks. The color palette pays homage to the vibrancy that escapes the naked eye.
Crucial for their audience to link them with daily foods, we voted for real images rather than an illustration library. Being the protector of what we eat daily, we left zero room for interpretation when it comes to Phageguard’s role in the future of food.
